Most of our 2018 went in speculating spy-shots of what has now turned out to be one of the most interesting iterations from Triumph’s bag of surprises. Even after it was unveiled in October, we were still head over heels for the Scrambler 1200 and for good reasons.

Pushing its heritage line-up, the British bike-maker launched the bike in two trims including the Scrambler 1200 XC and the Scrambler 1200 XE. While the XC promises to be a rather street-oriented moniker, the XE brings a dual-sport usage on the table.

While the Brits were wise enough to segment their new moniker, we feel that the pricing on the bike plays a much crucial role, and this time it won’t be cheap. At the international press launch for the Scrambler in Portugal last week, we learnt that the Scrambler 1200 will feature a price tag of $14,000 MSRP, while the off-road ready Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE is priced at $15,400 MSRP.

To get a clear comparison of the price range among its other competitors, it should be noted that the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled, starts at $11,395 MSRP, and the new Moto Guzzi V85 TT is priced at $11,990 MSRP.

The two variants on the Scrambler share the same frame, however, will have an increased rake angle on the XE. This gives the model a relaxed feel on the road as well. The rear shock on the bike consists of a long-travel, fully adjustable Ohlin’s unit with Showa forks.

Apart from that, the modern classic packs a plethora of features with the new moniker. It now comes with a 2nd generation TFT instrument cluster, along with a fully integrated technology system. The bike also supports plenty of ride assists including six riding modes combined with optimised cornering ABS and traction control system on the XE. Both the bikes feature all LED lighting system including a DRL.
